NEBOSH Certificate in Fire

Programme Outline

The NEBOSH National Fire Certificate is designed for managers and supervisors who are responsible for ensuring that their organisation adheres to fire safety legislation, as well as individuals who are looking to work as a fire safety adviser. The qualification will equip candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out fire risk assessments across a variety of workplaces. Once the course has been completed, candidates will also be able to identify a range of fire protective and preventative measures.

COURSE DURATION

This course takes four days to complete, including exams.

PROGRAMME

Unit FC1: Fire Safety and Risk Management

  • Element 1: Managing Fire Safety
  • Element 2: Principles of fire and explosion
  • Element 3: Causes and prevention of fires
  • Element 4: Fire protection in buildings
  • Element 5: Safety of people in the event of fire
  • Element 6: Fire Safety Risk Assessment
CERTIFICATION

For Unit FC1, candidates will be assessed on a two-hour written examination. The written papers are assessed by NEBOSH external examiners.

For Unit FC2, candidates will be required to complete a three hour practical examination within their own workplace. The assessment is to be taken within 10 working days of the completion of the FC1 written examination. The practical examination is moderated externally by NEBOSH and assessed internally by the provider of the course.

To achieve the full certificate, candidates are also required to complete the NGC1 module within 5 years.  If you have completed NGC1 over 5 years ago you will need to resit it.
