Kevin Colleran– MANAGING DIRECTOR.

Kevin is a Health and Safety Consultant with a vast experience of working in both the public and private sectors.
Whilst working for Liverpool City Council Kevin was initially able to gain invaluable experience of construction related matters, when Kevin was a Housing Officer/Surveyor a fundamental part of his duties related to identifying repairs required to domestic housing properties.
Kevin moved full time into safety in 1997 when he became the assistant safety advisor for Housing and Building Maintenance, were his duties consisted of providing safety services such as risk assessments, inspections, audits and training to employees within housing and building maintenance, including joiners, electricians, gas engineers, plumbers roofers etc. This role allowed Kevin to understand and appreciate fully the main risk factors involved across a number of construction disciplines as well as understand the principal aspects of each trade.
In 2000 Kevin was promoted to a full time health and safety officer post when he joined the corporate health and safety team within Liverpool City Council.
Kevins role developed further and he was involved in establishing strategic polices and procedures across all council departments, which include housing, social services, property services and estate management, education and leisure. Kevin was also able to expand his construction experience further by undertaking the role of CDM Coordinator on CDM applicable projects within council departments, which were a mixture of refurbishment and new build schemes and also by providing advice and guidance on CDM application to the client, designers and principal contractors, which all roles were undertaken within the Council.
Kevin joined Rawlings Consultancy Services in 2001 and his primary duties are to work closely with our client base, 75% of which are construction related. Rawlings undertake the retained competent person role and provide a professional safety advisory service, which allows our clients to have phone and on site support all year round and primarily develop their safe systems and procedures and undertake a wide range of consultancy services, including risk assessments, audits, inspections as well as providing general advice and guidance were necessary.
A number of our clients undertake the role of Principal Contractor on CDM schemes and Kevin assists them in fulfilling their duties, which will include preparing Construction Phase Health and Safety Plans, risk assessments/method statements and on site support, including tool box talks, site inspections etc.
We also have clients who are designers, including Mechanical and Electrical engineers and Kevin assists them in preparing design risk assessments and advise them of them of fulfilling their duties under CDM.
Kevin has been instrumental in developing the CDM Coordinator Service provided by Rawlings and is presently the CDM Coordinator on a number of high profile projects, for clients such as Urban Splash, Downing, Iliad and Denizen Contracts with the value of these projects ranging from £1 million to £42 million.
Kevins involvement on schemes as CDM Coordinator has varied in type and include small scale commercial and residential schemes, large new build residential apartment schemes, large new build student housing schemes, a mixture of refurbishment and new build hotels and the refurbishment of listed building both commercial and residential.
Kevin is a charted safety practitioner registered with IOSH and a member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and also the Association of Project Safety.
Kevin has also recently joined the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register as an approved member.
Our business was rebranded in August 2011 from Rawlings Consultancy Services Ltd to Rawlings Safety and Training Consultancy Services Ltd of which Kevin is a joint managing director, tasked with continuing to provide our client base with a continuing level of excellent service delivery and provision and fulfilling my role as a CDM Services and Chartered Safety Practitioner.
More recently Kevin has led our company through the challenges of CDM 2015 and developed our services to enable us to offer a wide range of CDM Consultancy Support Services including, Principal Designer Role, Principal Designer Support Role, Principal Contractor Support Services, Client CDM advisor support and general CDM Consultancy Support Services. Our business is SMAS and APS accredited for principal designer services
Kevin continues to the present time to be actively involved as Managing Director of this busy consultancy practice in all aspects of Health & Safety Management, Safety Training, CDM Consultancy and retained Safety Services.
