SUMMARY:Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) – 5 days
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nThis course covers all relevant legislation and other essential elements relating to site management safety.\nThe core aim is to enable site managers to:\n\nManage health and safety on-site following current legal provisions and within the context of their management or supervisory role\nDevelop an understanding of responsibilities and accountability for site health, safety and welfare\nRecognise that a safe site is efficient, economical and productive.\n\n\nCourse Outline\n\nThis course consists of classroom-based exercises and tutorials featuring best practice sharing, group work, and case studies.\nIn addition, delegates will cover legislative and practical knowledge and awareness of site safety.\nThe course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with regulations.\nOur trainers will coach and assess learners throughout this five-day course, finishing the session with a multiple-choice and written exam. To qualify for the certificate, learners must pass the examinations with a minimum 81% pass rate, after which they will receive a five-year certification.\n\n\nThe course will take delegates through:\n\nAn introduction to health and safety law, duties, responsibilities, enforcement and sanctions\nOverviews and explanations of the most relevant construction activity legislation\nAccident costs, causes, investigation, prevention and reporting requirements\nRisk assessment and principles of prevention’\nSafety management systems, policies, plans, performance and measuring\nManagement of contractors\nDevelopment of safe systems of work and permit systems\nPractical communication skills and techniques\nBehavioural science that includes awareness of human error\nMotivating safety behaviour\nRecognition of organisational duties and responsibilities\nSpecific responsibilities of managers, supervisors and operatives\nProduction of site activity instructions (safe system of work)\nPlanning for health and safety within the context of a project\n\nWho Should Attend?\n\nThis CITB SMSTS course is for site managers, agents and persons who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff and workforce.
